From there, you should be able to make a list of the ones that stand out to you and align with the scope of work you are trying to accomplish. Sometimes it’s best to not only rely on what you see online. Pick up the phone and call your top three builders and ask them about their process to get a better feel for how they work.
Questions to ask
When you’ve narrowed down your search have your list of questions ready.
- What style houses do you primarily build and what is your building process like?
- Will I have a main point of contact through this process?
- What kind of contract will you provide?
- How do you mitigate challenges to stay on schedule and budget?
- In the event that there are changes and additional costs, what does that process look like?
- How will questions and concerns be addressed during construction?
- How often will I be updated on the progress of the project?

The more houses you look at, the more you will know what exactly you will want and you will be able to convey your vision to your builders.
